How is it done?
Can be performed in the doctors office. The doctor uses a special laser to create a microscopic hole in the iris which allows the natural drainage of the eye to reopen.
How long does it take?
2-5 minutes per eye in most cases.
Who is it for?
Performed as first line rescue treatment for patients undergoing acute angle closure glaucoma.
Prophylactic treatment for those at increased risk of acute angle closure.
Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty (SLT)

Can be performed in the doctor's office. A special laser is used to treat the natural drainage filter of the eye. Exposure to laser treatment has been shown to increase outflow and lower eye pressure.

Mainly for patients with open angle glaucoma or those with high eye pressure who have yet to develop glaucoma.
First line treatment option instead of starting eye drops.
